Senbon Shaka-do

Daihoonji was established in 1221. It is also known as "Senbon Shakado".
The main hall (Shaka Hall) is the oldest Buddhist hall in Kyoto. It is designated as a National Treasure.
This temple was destroyed by fire, during the Onin War and later.
The main hall (Shaka Hall) is the only remaining original building.
The Treasure Hall owns a lot of cultural assets.
The Okame image is an image of the wife of the carpenter who built the main hall (Shaka Hall). She saved the mistake of the work of the husband by her wit.
