Nison-in

Nison-in Temple belong to the Sanmon school of the Tendai sect of Buddhism.
Nison-in was founded in 841.
Thereafter, the temple was restored in Kamakura period by Tanku, a disciple of Honen.
The principal image in the temple are a statue of the Shaka-nyorai and a statue of the Amida-Nyorai.
In precincts in this temple, there are a lot of graves of a person in history.
For instance, it is scholar Ito Jinsai and his son.
There is a grave of Suminokura Ryoi, too.
He is famous for the excavation of the canal.
