Gio-ji

This temple belong to the Shingon sect of Buddhism.
It was founded by Nembutsubo Ryochin, a disciple of Priest Honen. The main building was rebuilt in 1895.
This building has a statue of Buddha Dainichi.
It has also a statue of Tairano Kiyomori and four statues of nuns including Gio.
Gio is a woman known by the story of sad love to Kiyomori.
