Mampuku-ji

Mampuku-ji temple is the head temple of the Obaku sect of Zen Buddhism.
This temple was built in 1661 (early Edo era) by priest Ingen, an important Zen priest from China.
The Tennoden Hall has a statue of Hotei.
It is the God of good match.
The buildings in this temple are the buildings of Chinese-style.
The Daiouhouden Hall (Main hall) is constructed by using teakwood. It is a very scarce building.
The principal image in the Daiouhouden Hall is a seated Gautama Buddha.
Monks at the Obakusan Manpukuji Temple follow a Chinese-style vegetarian diet.
