Koshoji

Koshoji temple was founded by Dogen (1200-1253).
Dogen is a founder of the Soto sect of Buddhism.
The current temple was built by Nagai Naomasa (1587-1668) in 1648.
The approach to the temple is known as Kotozaka.
It is famous for its colorful maples in the fall.
The main hall was made from parts of the Fushimi Castle.
