Yoshimine-dera

Yoshimine-dera is a temple of the Tendai sect of Buddhism.
Yoshimine-dera was founded by Gensan in 1029.
The main image in the temple is a statue of the 1000-Armed Kannon.
The pine tree "Youryu-matsu" is designated as natural monument.
The two-story pagoda "Tahoto" is designated as Important Cultural Asset.
The temple was burned down during the Onin War, it was restored between 1688-1704 by Keishoin, the mother of shogun Tunayoshi Tokugawa.
