Jakkoin

This temple belong to the Tendai sect of Buddhism. In 594, it was built by Shotoku Taishi. In September 1185, Kenreimonin Tokuko, the daughter of Tairano Kiyomori and the wife of the emperor Takakura, renounced secular life and spent the remainder of her days here praying for the souls of her son the emperor Antoku. The original main building was completely destroyed by fire on May 9, 2000. The current main building was completed in June 2005.
