This temple is Head Temple of the Honganji Branchi of the Jodo-Shin sect of Buddhism.
Nishi and Higashi-Honganji Temple were
originally parts of one whole.
Ieyasu Tokugawa worried about their great religious power,
and Nishi and Higashi-Honganji were separated by Ieyasu Tokugawa in 1602.
The buildings of this temple is Momoyama-style architecture.
And Noh stage is the oldest in Japan.
