Myoshinji

This temple is head temple of the Myoshinji school of the Rinzai sect of Buddhism.
The temple originated from the detached palace of the Emperor Hanazono. It was converted to temple in 1342, at the request of Emperor Hanazono.
There are 47 sub temples of this temple in the spacious grounds.
This temple has many important buildings and Buddhist statues.
The bell of the temple is designated as National Treasure.
It is the oldest in Japan. It was made in 698.
