Hokongoin

The Jodo style garden is famous.
The temple is also known for lotus flowers.
It was originally built in the beginning of the heian era by Natsuno Kiyohara as a villa.
Afterwards, Taikenmonin renamed it Hokongoin.
Precincts are beautiful in each four seasons.
It was created to Waka poems by Saigyo.
This temple was restored in 1279, and it was converted into the Ritsu sect's temple by the priest Enkaku.
The main hall has statue of Amitabha Tathagata, and aKannon with eleven faces and four arms.
