Hojoin-kyokukoji

Hojoin-kyokukoji is said to have been built by Hatano Kawakatsu in 604 with Prince Shotoku's idea.
This temple is generally called "Hashidera" (temple of bridge).
It is a defense temple of the Uji bridge.
In precincts, there is "Stone monument of the Uji bridge".
When the Uji bridge was built, this monument was made.
The reason why the bridge was built was recorded in this stone monument.
This is specified for the Important Cultural Asset for the oldest stone monument in Japan.
It is important ruins also for knowing ancient life.
