Nanzenji

Nanzenji Temple is the head temple of the Nanzenji School of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism.
The temple originated from the detached palace of the mother of Emperor Kameyama, was converted into the temple in 1291.
The Hojo Hall comprises Oo-hojo and Ko-hojo. Many of the wall paintings in these halls are designated as Important Cultural Assets.
