Mansyuin

This temple belong to the Tendai sect of Buddhism. It is one of the five Monzeki temples of the Tendai sect.
It was originally established by the high priest Saicho on Mt. Hiei.
In 1656 this temple was moved to this present site by Prince and Priest Ryosho.
Prince and Priest Ryosho was a son of Prince Hachijonomiya.
Hachijonomiya is a person known by having established Katsura Imperial Villa.
Therefore, Mansyuin Temple has a common sense of beauty with katsura Imperial Villa.
The principal image in this temple is a statue of Amitabha Tathagata. It is enshrined in the Ooshoin.
