The Takase River was created by Suminokura Ryoi as a canal in 1611（early edo period）.
The Takase River was used to transport materials and products into Kyoto from Osaka during edo period.
After the Meiji period, The Takase River was no longer used as a commercial canal.
Today the aria of this riverside is a district of restaurants and bars.
