Honno-ji

This temple is the head temple of the Hommon branchi of the Hokke sect of the Buddhism. It was founded in 1415 by the Monk Nichiryu.
When Akechi Mitsuhide attacked Oda Nobunaga at this temple in 1582, this temple was destroyed by fire.
In 1589, this temple was reconstructed in its present site by Toyotomi Hideyoshi.
Thereafter, It was also destroyed by fire. at the end of the Edo Period.
The current temple was completed in 1928.
