This temple was originally built by kobo Daishi in Heian period.
Afterwards, priest Gachirin Daishi completed the temple buildings after he returned from Sung (China) in 1218. And the temple was renamed Sennyuji.
The Buddha Hall is designated as Important Cultural Asset.
This hall has the three statues of Buddha, Sakyamuni, Amitabha, and Miroku.
They were created by Unkei.
The yokihi (Yang Guifei) Kannon hall has a statue of Sho Kannon.
It is designated as Important Cultural Asset.
