Fujinomori Shrine was built before the relocation of the capital to Kyoto in 794.
This shrine is known as a birthplace of the festival "Shobu no Sekku" (Iris Festival).
The Fujinomori Festival is held on May 5 every year. Especially, Kakeuma Shinji in the festival is a thrilling religious event. The spectator is surprised by horseback riders with spectacular stunts.
