Yasaka-no-to

Hokanji Temple belongs to the Kenninji shcool of the Rinzai sect of Buddhism.
It is said that this temple was founded by Shotoku Taishi in 592. The five-story Pagoda "Yasakanoto Pagoda" and the "Taishido" and "Yakushido" structures remain.
The five-story Pagoda "Yasakanoto Pagoda" is 6 meters on each side and 46 meters in height.
The pagoda was destroyed by fire at numerous times.
Its present pagoda was rebuilt by Shogun Ashikaga Yoshinori in Muromachi period.
It is designated as Important Cultural Asset.
